Greensboro Urban Project, Y’all

What will I do on GUPY?

Your summer in Glenwood will be highly relational and will require a good deal of initiation on your part as you meet your neighbors. In years past we have offered a structured internship for part of the summer, but we are now creating space for relationships to deepen. When you arrive, we will have an orientation to the city and then we will head to Mexico to learn about serving the poor in a cross-cultural context, as well as seek God’s heart for Hispanics here in the United States of America. Once home in Greensboro, we will help lead the Glenwood Camp, which is a week-long experience for middle and high school students who are involved at Grace Community Church (Marshall's home church) through our tutoring or dance ministries. We take the kids out of the city to a new place each year and see to expose them to life outside Greensboro. This is where the foundation of relationships will be laid, and then your summer will be spent developing those further, as well as making new relationships with the homeless of Greensboro that we will be serving.

Most evenings we will also have a team component, whether that is Bible study, movie and discussion night, or small groups for prayer and accountability. Each morning you will have a devotion already prepared for you, designed to more fully explore the Biblical basis of our week's theme.
